From 17.9 Billion in 2014 to 36.4 Billion in 2023! Read it and weep! Every tax democrats pass takes money that you earned for your family!
Washingtonians are paying more taxes than ever before. Since 2014, state tax collections have more than doubled, ballooning to $36.4 billion in 2023. In fact, Democrats have passed nearly 50 new taxes and fees that hurt middle class families and drag down our state’s economy.
In the midst of a housing crisis, Democrats in the Legislature increased your property taxes. During record-breaking inflation, they implemented a new payroll tax. They created a new tax on capital gains, moving thousands of jobs to other states and causing our state to slide from No. 15 to No. 35 in business climate rankings. And they enacted a carbon tax that’s costing you hundreds of dollars per year at the gas pump.
Over the past decade, Democrats have enacted dozens of new taxes and fees generating $77.5 billion to government coffers (see list below). Meanwhile, Washingtonians now pay some of the highest prices in the nation for housing, groceries, and gas.
So while Democrats are passing laws that make your life more expensive, House Republicans are working to make your life more affordable. It’s time to Fix Washington.
