The Daily Wire was at the center of the cultural firestorm surrounding gender as the company streamed the entirety of Daily Wire host Matt Walsh’s “What Is A Woman?” on Twitter to celebrate its one year anniversary.
Twitter initially seemed receptive, but at the last minute, several Twitter employees tagged the post as “hateful content” and attempted to restrict how the film could be viewed and shared on the platform, claiming that several scenes challenging the self-identification of trans people qualified as “hate speech.”
But….Twitter CEO Elon Musk took a series of actions reversing course. He removed the “hateful conduct” tag and then retweeted the video link to his 140 million followers, saying “Every parent should watch this.”
People by the millions took him up on his call to watch the film – by Sunday evening, the original Daily Wire tweet with the documentary link had been viewed more than 170 million times, making it one of, if not the most viewed video post in the history of Twitter.
